The Trust for Trauma Journalism’s mission is to prepare news professionals for the impact of covering traumatic events while advancing innovative, exemplary reporting on violence, conflict, tragedy and their aftermath. In order to sustain global trauma initiatives in the future, the Trust is working to support journalists in the present by addressing the current gaps in trauma resources, including in the areas of peer support and the financial burden of seeking treatment.

Attacks against journalists and journalism are not new. However, the increase in rhetoric that seeks to undermine the media entirely, as well as opportunities for journalists to face online abuse and harassment, are making it more difficult than ever for those in the field to continue working safely. There are simply too few resources to address trauma and resilience.

With the increasing demands placed on journalists today, it is essential that trauma support is at the forefront of discussions about journalism safety.

Your financial contribution to the Trust will go toward the implementation of programs that directly support journalists who have experienced trauma or emotional stress, as well as realizing opportunities for individual and groups of journalists to build resilience through peer support.

Please consider supporting the Trust's work in ensuring that journalists have the trauma resources they need and deserve to keep them safe and able to continue working.
